Idea 1 Photographer Research

Shawn, Pamela and Gavin Richter

The Richter Family have a photography business called San Diego Photographers. It has been a family owned business since 2002. They are based in San Diego, California and specialise in maternity/pregnancy/newborn photography, children’s photography and high school senior photography photos. They also travel the world in search of beautiful scenic photography.
“We love photographing people, places, and things whether it’s our backyard or halfway round the world.”
Gavin has his own blog which mainly consists of photos of himself taken by his parents Shawn and Pamela. This is where I found these photos of Gavin dressed in military uniform at Rosecrans Cemetery in 2010 on Memorial Day to honour the fallen heroes.
Above the photos one of his parents had written:
“I tried to explain what this place was to Gavin, and although I'm sure he didn't totally understand, hopefully he learned a thing or two.
At the end of this photo shoot, Gavin took each flower one by one and laid each of them at one of the headstones"

I loved these photos as soon as I saw them because I thought they were really moving and beautiful. The way they are taken suggests that the boy’s father has died in a war and the boy, although he’s sad, looks up to him and feels proud of him.
I would like to do something similar to this because I think it’s a really good way of creating a powerful message that our soldiers are extraordinary people and risk so much to fight for our country.
